Almost Barack Obama Inauguration Time

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/qSX3j)

Will it be a false hope, a big let down? Or, will the Obama promises of a new world actually be a reality. The world is seemingly spiraling out of control with no way to but the brakes on the life. But Obama represents a glimmer of hope and in less than 48 hours Obama will not longer be the president-elect. Barack Obama will be PRESIDENT- period.

In a world of hate, love seems to have a chance.

As Obama took a train to his ultimate destiny, his welcomes were raucous and animated, as the sea of people cheered, waved and took pictures. Tears rolled down one woman's face as Obama spoke. "We love you, Obama!" another yelled out. "I love you back," Obama answered calmly, eliciting a roar from the crowd. The same emotions were expressed up and down the tracks on the 137-mile journey, a trip that started in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and retraced the train ride Abraham Lincoln took on his way to becoming president in 1861.

Janice Winston, 56, one of about 250 invited guests who watched Obama leave Philadelphia's 30th Street train station, said she was thrilled to see a black man assume the presidency. "It's finally hitting me, because I'm starting to cry, that this is really happening," said Winston, who is black. "Today is a new day."

Obama's train slowed to a crawl at a few spots along the route so he could step out onto the back of his carriage and wave to the crowds that lined the tracks. In Claymont, Delaware, several hundred people gathered to cheer and wave to Obama, holding signs reading "Halleluja, We Did It," and "Hail to the chief." In Edgewood, Maryland, the waiting crowd chanted "Obama" as the train rolled by.

Obama was joined on the train trip by about 40 invited "everyday Americans." He and Biden, along with their wives, visited them during the trip. "This is more than an ordinary train ride, this is a new beginning," Biden told the crowd in his hometown of Wilmington. Warm fuzzies galore!

It seems that Obama is breaking about every record imaginable since that famous Convention speech in 2004; however, in just two days the reality that Barack is President Obama will sink in. I wonder how long the honeymoon will last? For however long it does, at least we're getting to experience something not since the days of John and Bobby Kennedy- at least of me that is.
