From: Prof. Hasan Yahya
Early in the morning of Monday, your flowery article was the first to read. and found my self the urge to share with you some points may be included in your coming analysis of the the Middle East conflict.
The analysis is great, and credited to be close to perfect. Bur I think it is missing depth on some obstacles to make the changes possible for the United States image worldwide. I have short comments on the article which I agree one hundred percent with the writer of his brilliant description and analysis to the outstanding organization of the historical inauguration, even though it describes fully the state of Tanzania, which I believe it was right to do so, because Tanzania is similar to many other countries in Africa and Asia , heading toward modernity and democracy.
1. I agree with you that "The inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama as the 44th and the first African-American President of the most powerful nation on earth was received with joy and happiness by many people globally - with many hailing him as the President who has been widely accepted across the world." In fact the world is amazed how two millions gathered in a small place for a celebration. It reminds me of the organization of two million people came from all corners of the world to perform pilgrimage every year in Makka, Saudi Arabia. Such organization has to be recognized, as Muslims too have learned the American way of organization and that they can deal rationally with plans for peace in the Middle East.

2. And that he was also credited for his exemplary communication skills. And that his inauguration was historic. " in the first three days he proved his communication skills by calling important leaders in the Middle East.

3. And that he said: "To the Muslim world, we embrace a new way forward based on mutual interest and mutual respect."

I wish as an American to see the United States as the most powerful nation on earth to change its position in the UN from one sided vote [most times Veto] when it comes to Israeli-Arab conflict over Palestine matter to a more respectful stand of neutrality when it comes to human rights principle. The rage of Muslims around the world and many other segments in the free world through demonstrations had its roots as a consequence of misguided foreign policy in the last forty years. I think it will be difficult to change course overnight as you said. But America has proved as a capitalist system does not carry the seeds of its destruction as Marx said, Because America is using its approaches scientifically and rationally. Unfortunately this approach was not publicized in foreign policy matters in the Middle East. America has to accept the following facts that:
- Israel is an occupying other people's land since 1967, even Hamas accepts that.
- Palestinian refugees were not repatriated for their lost land according UN resolution number 194.
- Arab states [Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Syria, supported the USA to get rid of Unleash Saddam Hussein from Kuwait first and from earth second.
- The Arab recent plan submitted by Saudi Arabia, the leading state NOT only for Arab countries, but to almost all Muslim countries. Such a plan I believe would be a good start to be accepted by the US and Israel which will lead to cultural normalization as I stated in my theory: Crescentology for Conflict Management.
- Jerusalem is well respected place for all religions. It should remain as such under International administration may be from the NGO rational groups, to be an open place for all. Even though part of it the capital of State of Israel and part of it the capital of the State of Palestine.
- 242 is an important UN resolution in spite of the ambiguity about some words in it, should be considered as a workable document to solve the conflict over Palestine.
Recognition of the above facts and taking them into consideration will help regain the US respectful position and reduce rage among the Arabs and Muslims worldwide and satisfy millions of people supporting the Palestinian cause to live in peace side by side with Israel as a state too. Such change then will translate "embrace the new way forward based on mutual interest and mutual respect."
This have to be seen in the UN resolutions. This I doubt, and it will be hard to be taken by President Obama without Jewish understanding of the Palestinian claims and without the acceptance of the above facts. I think Hamas first have to taken out of the terrorism list made unjustly by the previous Administration. The rationality of Hamas have to be exploited for peace by understanding human rights for both Israelis and Palestinians. Therefore, I believe that Hamas have to be negotiated side by side with the Palestinian Authority united in one Palestinian team as far as we expect that Netanyahu hard line party will win next month.
In general the analysis was balanced for the purpose of its writer, I can't blame him, but highly respect his talent to analyze the historic celebration .of the 44th president of the United States. [This comment will appear also on www.hasanyahya.com.
